Our Mission
The Halifax Assistance Fund has been working to help those in greatest need in our community since 1866. We work to financially support the efforts of the dedicated organizations whose staff and volunteers work tirelessly to help those most affected by poverty. Ninety seven percent of funds raised go directly to our mission.

We are a private charity with zero government funding, and we distribute our annual investment income each year of about $120,000. Our funds are used entirely to alleviate the most acute poverty-related needs in the Halifax Regional Municipality, including food and other daily essentials, shelter, clothing and boots for the most vulnerable.
